Purpose/Context:
Purpose:
· The DSA role is responsible for providing Financial Accounting support to the Diageo Brands Nigeria Ltd. (DBNL) entity.
This will include:-
· To manage DBN planning and management reporting, including risk and opportunities
· To manage the Brand-through profit/ inter-company pricing model
· Analysis of commercial impacts of project initiatives on financial performance to form a detailed understanding of the performance of the whole business.
· Overseeing the provision of back office support from Guinness Nigeria
Context
Diageo Brands Nigeria Ltd (DBNL) is a newly formed wholly owned Nigerian subsidiary of Diageo Plc. The company has been established to take over the distribution, sales and marketing of the Diageo spirit brands in Nigeria from the current distributor/agent.
Diageo Plc is quoted in the US and London Stock exchanges, and as a subsidiary DBNL is therefore required to comply with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) as well as Diageo’s Control Assessment and Risk Management (CARM) and Local Statutory requirements.
Dimensions:
· Finance admin and accounting support to the DBNL GM
· Diageo, statutory and management Reporting.
Financial
· Support with the Preparation of Strat. Plan, Budgets and Risks & Opportunities
· Manage the outsourced back office relationship and SLA with Guinness Nigeria (GN)
· Ensure CARMS controls meet a minimum of ‘satisfactory’ rating.
Market Complexity
The Decision support accountant is required to play a significant leadership role within financial control team, where he will be expected to ensure the back office support from GN is fully integrated and processes are continuously optimised.
Top 3-5 Accountabilities:
1. Reporting and Analysis
· Report DBN performance to Africa hub through Magnitude reporting
· Accurate and timely preparation of all reports in particular period end magnitude submissions.
· Full completion of annual and periodic statutory returns and the preparation and filing of the statutory accounts.
· Provide detailed analyses of monthly DBN results by key brand and identify drivers of performance
2. Reconcile intercompany accounts
· Ensure no mismatches in intercompany account
· Have full clarity on inter company transactions in SAP between DBN and other trading partners
3. CARM compliance
· Assist Finance Manager in ensuring satisfactory CARM compliance for DBN, this involves performing key reconciliations and controls, and assessing control environment
Qualifications and Experience Required :
Qualifications
· Degree level with strong academic record
· Qualified accountant and/or MBA
Key Skills & Experience
· Minimum 5 years post qualification relevant work experience with proven integrity
· Able to take commercial insights and translate into the Organisation and People Agenda including good customer service
· Analytical and interpretative skills
· Good communication and presentation skills
Knowledge
· Sound IT knowledge in the use of Microsoft office tools (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
· Working knowledge in accounting package
